Unfortunately, Dollar have had to withdraw their team from Mens Division 3 for this summer’s league matches. The fixture list has been updated accordingly. It leaves it a bit ‘gappy’ I’m afraid but maybe that will leave the other teams enough time to recuperate from pulled hamstrings / aching biceps / blistered feet (delete as applicable) in time for their next match!
What is ‘normal’ anyway?
As the constraints of lockdown are gradually reduced, the weather is improving and thoughts immediately turn to tennis. Obviously!
As a sport, tennis has been lucky to have escaped the worst of the restrictions imposed upon us. We’ve been able to watch the pros in action around the world and — most of the time — have been able to play in one form or other.
And now the summer leagues are back!
The TCS Exec Committee have worked hard to compile a schedule of matches to keep you busy during the usual league months of April, May and June. Please note that a digital version of the full TCS Handbook will be available from your club secretary by mid-April. If they do not have it, get them to contact the Handbook Secretary.
But if you are just wanting to when you are playing and where, the matches are listed here.
Please note the slightly different format for matches this summer. This is to minimise the amount of social interaction off court, so, no mixing of teams and no after-match teas. Hopefully things will be more straightforward next season.
A decision regarding the Singles, Autumn and Winter leagues will be made later, once the lockdown rules are lightened further.
And also please note that the results of this summer’s leagues will not impact on promotions or relegations. These leagues will just be for fun… the intention is to get everyone playing again.
2019 Fixtures
Hello everyone
Today is 6 April and the 2019 fixtures are now ready to view on this site. The handbook has gone to print but please note that, because of last year’s GDPR legislation*, the full handbook is not being published in full on the website.
Printed copies will be sent to each club secretary as soon as they are available. Each club will be provided with enough copies so that one is available for each team captain.
* We have suspicions that email information from the website was used in phishing attempts of several TCS clubs recently. Please be alert to unexpected emails from ‘officials’ in your own clubs!
2018 Handbook
Today is 2 April and the 2018 TCS Handbook has been added to the website.
In addition, you club secretary should have been contacted to confirm the details.
The Handbook has gone to print and so copies should be issued to the clubs in the next week or so.
‘Good Game’ for 2018!
- Update: the links to the Handbook have been removed so that the Handbook cannot be accessed directly from the website. Club Secretaries have hard copies but, for GDPR reasons, only the match fixtures are now available on this site. (TCS Admin October 2018)
2018 TCS Fixtures
Here are the fixtures for the 2018 TCS Summer and Autumn leagues.
As usual there’s a bit of date juggling that goes on but it should be OK.
As of today (28th March) there are a couple of contact details to update and then the whole Handbook will be put online. It will also go to the printers this week and hard copies will be sent to each of the TCS club secretaries.
If you have any queries or corrections, small ones can be updated online. Contact me here (TCS Admin) if such a change is needed. If it’s a question of dates and/or logistics, however, the easiest way to resolve it is simply to contact the opposition captain and arrange an alternative date if you can.
Enjoy your tennis this season and see you on court.
2017 Fixtures
Hopefully that’s the date juggling pretty much sorted for another year!
Copies of the 2017 handbook will be issued to clubs in the next few days (1st week of April) but you can see the full version here from today – 30th March.
We’ve checked the schedule as best we can but, inevitably, there may be odd conflicts. Apologies if there are. The handbook has gone to print but (minor) changes can be accommodated in the online version.
If it’s just a typo or Home/Away mix up, the best way to resolve it is to check with your team captain and for them to agree a solution with the opposition captain.
If it’s a contact typo we can correct that for you. Let me know here at TCS Admin.
